Monday, Dec 9- 8th Grade- Publisher Review and Revise Newsletter

Bell Ringer:
1.Open your Publications Characteristics Word document,
you will be typing the Brochure section. (click in last box, then tab)
2. Get your GREEN Project Rubric from the crate.
3. Open your NEWSLETTER. If page 2 or 3 is not complete work on it!

Guided Practice:
@Review common newsletter mistakes:
spelling,
no citations for pictures,
too much white space
poor headlines- needs a noun and an action verb
@ALL of the Newsletter must be finished by TODAY!
@ TEST on Tuesday on Publisher Publications
@ Students will check Table of Contents to make sure complete
     AND any extra rows are deleted
@ Students will delete 4th page.
@ Students will follow saving instructions.
@ Students will review for test on Tuesday!
     - 5 multiple choice questions (see notes)
     - open Publisher and choose a newsletter
       On the FIRST page of newsletter:     - Create a drop capital
     - create any type of 3D object
     - Insert a calendar building block
     - put a red frame around a clip art image or picture.

Independent Exercise:
@ ALL of the Newsletter must be finished by TODAY!

• 2 articles on the 1st page
• book/movie/video game review and field trip/class project
• 2 articles on the 2nd page
• teacher interview and club/sport/food drive/student council
• pictures and citations for each unless clip art
• picture frames on first page
• picture frames or shape with words on second page
• GOOD headlines (noun and verb)
• drop capital
• hyphenation .85 or .8
• proper white space not too much or too little
• proper CONTRAST
• 3D format
• check spelling and grammar
• check design does it look nice?
