Nov 22 Business and Finance

Learning Goal: Do GREAT on Marketing test and Finish Financial Planning Unit- Financial Ratios

Bell Ringer:
Review Jeopardy game on student docs for test.
The following items were the most commonly missed items on the study guides.

Remember the difference between selling and promotion.
Selling is communicating DIRECTLY <(face to face or by phone or internet chat)with potential customers to determine and satisfy their needs.
Promotion is communicating information about products and services INDIRECTLY to customers by advertising on television, newspaper, internet, coupons, etc.

Consumer Decision Making Process see text book page 241

You must know the 7 functions of marketing:
selling, distribution, product service and management, promotion, pricing, financing, marketing information management

You must konw the 4 Ps or the marketing mix:
product, price, place, and promotion

Remember all missing work needs to be turned in my TUESDAY.

Guided Exercise:
1. Remind students the next CFA (common formative assessment) will be Dec 1st.

2. Demonstrate an example from the after test exercise.

Independent Exercise:
1. Students will take Tuesday's vocabulary test.

2. Students will complete Financial Ratio worksheet (comparing two companies by looking at different financial ratios) Students by use notes from PowerPoint 4.01 Financial Planning. Students will practice how to judge how a business is doing financially by understanding how to use the current ratio, debt to equity ratio, return on equity ratio and net income ratio.

3. Students will compete in the Smartboard ratio contests.

4. Marketing presentations will be given before class and at 12:45.

5. Students will prepare their marketing promotions for display in the classroom.
