October 18 Business and Finance

Learning Goal: 2.05 Social Responsibility of Businesses

Bell Ringer: 60 second verbal presentation of Government or Non-Goverment consumer organization or a law or regulation.

1. Students will draw the name of an Government or Non-Goverment consumer organization or a law or regulation.

2. Students will read the 1 slide explanation of their choice on the 2.05 PowerPoint in the Student Docs under Principles of Business.

3. Students will model the research behavior they observed from Miss W on Monday. They will go to the search engine of their choice (Google, Bing, Yahoo). They will type in their choice and the key word "history" for example "FTC history". They will find out how it was started.

4. Students will go to the "news" tab and find 2 interesting headlines about their choice.

5. Students will practice their 60 second presentation. The order of the items (basic explanation, news items, and how started) is the student's choice. See slides 32 to 36 as a guide.

Guided Lesson: Recap of Monday's lesson- Yesterday we discussed the consumer's rights and responsibilities. Today we will discuss the Government's responsbilities.

Government Protection Introduction- How did it get started?
Miss W will model the verbal presentation format- (slides 31-36)
1. Read the basic slide information.
2. Explain how it began or was started.
3. 2 headlines
4. Presentation voice without hesitation


Independent Lesson:Create and Give Presentation.
Please turn off your monitors. Do NOT worry about writing the note sentences. You will have time after presentations and as a bell ringer for the next couple of days. You will only be writing about the 5 items you do not remember.
Rubric:
Basic Explanation- You can tell student studied the material.
How it was started?- Relevant fact
2 Headlines- Within the last year, correct organization and/or law
Presentation- Loud, You can tell student studied the material

Technology UsageInternet for research. PowerPoint or Word for notes.
