If you purchase stock you are buying a piece of the corporation.
In a cooperative you are getting together with other people to form a mini-market place. You do not own the cooperative but it helps you get discounts because you can buy in volume and you only have to pay your share of the business license. A farm's market is the best example.
Independent Exercise:

In a cooperative you are getting together with other people to form a mini-market place. You do not own the cooperative but it helps you get discounts because you can buy in volume and you only have to pay your share of the business license. A farm's market is the best example.
We are going to start the next unit on Management styles.
Students will plan a pep rally and determine which of the five manager functions are being represented with the various activities.
Independent Exercise:
Turn to pages 150 and 151 in your textbook or see slides 3 - 8 on PowerPoint 2.02
On the back of your puzzle management sheet write the defintion of management:
Management is the process of accomplishing the goals of an organization through the effective use of people and other resources.
Leaving room between them write the following management functions, Planning,Organizing, Staffing, Implementing, Controlling.
For each bullet under a function on the PowerPoint slides 3-8 write how you could have used this function to make the puzzle activity better.
Example for Planning you will need to write 3 sentences.
1. Analyzing information
2. Setting goals
3. Making decisions to accomplish the goals
For analyzing information you could have either
"Analyze which puzzle would be easiest to solve based on the different colors or shapes in the puzzle." OR
"Analyze the outdoors conditions to find a place where the wind is not strong before sitting down to work on puzzle"
You would then write sentences for "Setting goals" (what goals would you set) and "Making decisions to accomplish goals." (what decisions would need to be made on the team)
Then you will go on to Organzing and write a sentence for each of the 3 bullets.
Then you will go on to Staffing and write a sentence for each of the 3 bullets.
Then you will go on to Implementing and write 1 sentence about how you could have directed or lead your team to accomplish the goals you wrote about earlier.
Finally you will finish with Controlling and write, "Our puzzle team would know if we were successful if we finished 1st or 2nd and won lollipops."
If time we will review the Leadership concepts.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) compares prices of the same items year after year for inflation and deflation.
Inflation- is an increase in prices. Causes of inflation are when the demand for products and services exceeds the supply- like gasoline.
Deflation- is a decrease in the prices of products and services, but people have less money for purchases. Causes of deflation are a recession or depression. People do not have the money to buy so businesses may lower their prices to get people to buy their products.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics just release new Consumer Price Index information, which we will review after attendance.
If you completed this question with the OLD information- it is ok.
If you have NOT completed this question- use the NEW information.
To look at big categories see the last column in Table A. and it is labeled "Unadjusted 12 mos ended Jan 2012"
What was the percentage increase in gasoline?
What was the percentage increase in apparel(clothing)?
Now we are going to look at more specific categories.
