Students understand what a Spreadsheet is and can list different examples.

Inventory- items a business owns, that they sell to make money

Guided Lesson:

@ Spreadsheet Ribbon Group Activity


@  93,694 jobs require knowing how to use spreadsheets.
      2,628 jobs are in North Carolina that require spreadsheet skills.
and look at your monitor number.
Go to that number's page and find one job that needs spreadsheets.
You will need to give the name of the job and a sentence that DESCRIBES the job.


“Spreadsheet Vocabulary PowerPoint Presentation”
describing uses of spreadsheets (slides 1-8)

Independent Exercise:

Students will take the open PowerPoint Presentation Test

In pairs, list the different buttons (icons) for the Spreadsheet ribbon.


Charades- each group of three will have 3 minutes to come up with a
way to act out one of the people below using spreadsheets.
They can say anything but the name of the person.
For example: They can not say "Look at me, I'm an accountant."
Accountants, Teachers,
Engineers, Sales people,
Scientists, Supermarkets,
Market Researchers.

Higher Order Thinking Questions
What type of activities benefit from using a spreadsheet?  
Student Technology/Differentiation
Students will use http://www.simplyhired.com/a/jobs/list/q-spreadsheet to review careers that require spreadsheet knowledge.

Independent Exercise:
Create a cover letter for your character resume or for a job you would like in the future

Make sure you use action verbs, complete sentences, correct spelling and
grammar.
-You should have an introduction paragraph.

-A middle paragraph explaining how your skills match job requirements

-A conclusion paragraph requesting a job interview.

-Save to your lunch number as "cover letter"
