Literacy/Vocabulary Strategies (Word Wall)
You can research job openings on websites like Monster.com or through employment agencies(they charge you or the business a fee) or through newspaper classified ads.

Guided Lesson:


1. Students will complete the Interest Assessment at   www.careerzone.ny.gov by following the directions in the 6.01 Employability PowerPoint and answer the 6.00 Assess Yourself worksheet questions.  


2. Besides each of the job (occupations) you need to write a SHORT definition of the job.You can use the "TASK" descriptions to help you.

    search for a job you researched yesterday or search for a new job

b. Employment Agencies http://www.grahamjobs.com/staffing_agency_programs_index.html
   They show job positions but not the employer's name until you pay them. 

c. Classifieds http://www.greensboro.com/triad_careers/
   While newspapers still list job positions in their papers many also list them online.

Work-based Learning
Apprenticeships- registered programs that provide hands on training

Independent Exercise: 

2. On a sheet of paper put your name.
Go to http://www.simplyhired.com/ and find 2 job positions 

 Write down the name of the company and three skills the position requires.
