Guided Lesson:

Your thumb goes on the 0 at the bottom
Your  index finger on the 4
Your middle finger on the 5
Your ring finger on the 6
Your pinky will hit the plus sign +

Your  index finger on the 1
Your middle finger on the 2
Your ring finger on the 3
Your ring finger on the . period key.

Your  index finger on the 7
Your middle finger on the 8
Your ring finger on the 9
Your ring finger on the + plus key.

In our fourth lesson we will cover the
operator keys of the /-*-- row .

  • The right middle finger will control the / key.
  • The right ring finger will control the * key.
  • The right little finger will control the - key.
  • GO SLOW--- NO MORE THAN 4 MISTAKES





Independent Exercise:

@ Students will complete the numeric keypad activity and questions


@ Students will understand how GWAM- Words per minute is calculated

Amy keyed 60 characters in 1 minutes.
How many words did she key in 1 minute?
60/1 =60 words per minute

Charlie keyed 60 characters in 5 minutes.
How many words did he key in 1 minute?
60/5 =12 words per minute




We are learning the numeric keypad.
The numeric keypad is to the right of the keyboard.

color the 7, 4, 1  blue use right index finger

color the /, 8, 5, 2  red use right middle finger

color the * , 9, 6, 3, ., delete green use right ring finger

color the -, +, enter  yellow use right little finger

leave 0 white use your thumb
