1.2 Introduce Alphabetic keys

I can learn how to properly type.
Typing Test next Tuesday, Feb. 3rd
Students use the new typing method.


Literacy/Vocabulary Strategies (Word Wall)
Qwerty keyboard, technique, alphabetic keys, touch method of typing, posture, pinky (little finger), ring finger, middle finger, index finger, thumb, wrist, the copy
Alphabetic keys are keys with letters on them.
This is an example of a Japanese cell phone.
It is NOT a QWERTY keyboard. Why?

Bell-Ringer/Connecting Strategy

Bellringer:
On page 5 type lines 1 and 2.
use your INDEX fingers for the F and J keys
                       use your THUMB for the space bar.

@ Go to your mail box and look for Witkowski OR type in the the title

1. Students will quietly complete the Achieve 3000 activities for the article:

3. On the back of your team work paper OR ON ANY PAPER,
draw the cell phone ad you described in the Achieve thought question.
Rubric for Cell phone ad:
50 points Creativity (picture is neatly drawn and colored)
50 points Accuracy (the QWERTY keyboard is correct)
Put YOUR NAME ON IT AND PUT in your folder when finished.
We will discuss on Monday.

4. Work on your extra credit vocabulary word search.
   Make sure your name is on it. Put in your crate, Miss W will collect on Monday.

5. If you were absent complete all 4 pages of Qwerty keyboard packet.

Students will read an Achieve 3000 article on the Qwerty keyboard.
Closure Strategy
Exit Activity:Students will practice touch typing the home row keys
with a game called HomeKeys Kennys.        
Remember- Do NOT look at the keys while playing.
Try your best to click on the keys from memory.
MUST GET TO LEVEL 3 FOR COOLMATH
