Literacy/Vocabulary Strategies (Word Wall)
Intersection- where an horizontal and vertical line meet.
In a spreadsheet when a horizontal row and vertical column meet.
The rectangle that they meet in is called a cell.
A cell is the smallest part of a spreadsheet.

Guided Lesson:
All Students will go online and review their progress
by checking their grades for at least this class.
Miss W will quickly review spreadsheet vocabulary.
Miss W will explain why functions are called shortcuts.

Independent Exercise:
Open the Spreadsheet Vocabulary file
Slides 31 through 34 (formatting and formulas)

@ Open up the Spreadsheet Vocabulary PowerPoint file
    slides 37 and 38 Understanding Functions (Shortcuts)
@ Function as a shortcut example
=F2+F3+F4+F5 and then we type out a function to see how functions are shortcuts.
=Sum(F2:F5)

@ Miss W will review the Function handout
@Depending on time several functions examples will be completed.
    ***Students will open the payroll file and by using functions
        find the following information:
        the maximum hourly rate
        the minimum hourly rate
        the sum of the hourly rates
        the average of the hourly rates
@ Spreadsheet flashcard 32 calculates averages
@ Additional function practice as needed.

What are the different function definitions involved with spreadsheets?

Students will use Excel to understand cell references.
