Standards:
DB-1 Know the use and purpose of a database

Students will delete and add items in a database.


Literacy/Vocabulary Strategies (Word Wall)
Field types: Date/Time, Yes/No, Text, Number,
Currency is another name for money.
Banknote, Business, Money,
Bell-Ringer/Connecting Strategy
On page 20, type lines 5 and 6.
Remember to use your thumb for the space bar.
We are using our left INDEX finger for the V key.

Guided Lesson:
@ Students will open in the DATABASE folder
    the 1 Database Fundamentals PowerPoint
@ Access 2010: Table Basics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aURLrWusnwo   
to minute 2:40
@Open your "First Names" database
@Class will practice deleting a record and deleting a field
@ Ask the students on your database table if they have a pet
AND their birthday (month, day, year)
@Class will use the "new (blank) record" arrow to add a new name  
@Class will practice identifying records, fields, and entries.
@ Follow as Miss W adds Number, Date/Time, Currency and Yes/No fields
and add those fields to your database.

Independent Lesson:
@ Use slide 18 to help with the field type definitions:
Number, Date/Time, Currency, and Yes/No

@ Complete the "What is a database?" question by copying the
ENTIRE definition from the beginning of the PowerPoint.
@Complete writing the definitions for Number, Date/Time, Currency, Yes/No
On the side of the worksheet titled “Review of Database Tables”

@ Use  a green crayon to GENTLY highlight
1 U2 How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb 1ht1/23/2004 Rock

@ Use a red crayon to GENTLY highlight
                     CD Title, American Idiot, Get Lifted

@ Use a blue crayon to GENTLY highlight Genius Loves Company  

@ If time: Start Review of Data Tables worksheet

Homework- Extra Credit for 3rd test:
Ask your parents if they have a business card or
have one in their wallets from a business or
have a friend with a business card or the next
time you go into a business or they go into a
business see if they have a business card or
at home go to Google and then images and type
"business card" then print a business card.
If you give Miss W a business card sometime
this week you will get 5 points extra credit on
the second test. MUST be appropriate for school-
no alcohol, guns or bad words on cards.
MUST BE IN BY MONDAY
